It's unbelievable how fast both November and the "newborn" phase have gone by. It makes me look back at his newborn pictures (which I realized I never posted) and his cute little bear ears, wishing he were a "lost boy" in Never Land and wouldn't grow up! (Except of course the whole part about being without his mother)

It has been magical to see him develop in just these short 3 months. He has become such a happy and pleasant baby- constantly smiling and talking to anything and everything. We are so lucky to have such a sweet little boy in our family. Regardless, a part of me will always miss how it was just the week before as he continues to grow up.

Visited the Polynesian Cultural Center

Took a ride on a glider... so cool! (Pretty much a plane with no engine that is carried in the sky on wind pressure)

And did some great relaxing at the lovely villa!

...And for good measure a couple pictures of my growing boy, since technically he was in Hawaii with us :)

Rise and Shout

My dad is quite the BYU fan and sent all of his grandkids BYU gear to be ready for the opener today. So to complete the grandkids-in-BYU-gear collection (see his 2 cute cousins in theirs here), this is Reid rooting for BYU for his very first time. His daddy is very proud to say that Reid is 1/1 lifetime as a BYU fan :)

Due Date

We've officially become those parents... the ones walking around with a camera permanently affixed to their hands who take 200+ pictures in a single week... the ones who say "just one more" about 14 times... oh well, makes me happy :)

In other (but still baby related) news:

We had a "Due Date Party" for Reid (figured it could have been his birthday, might as well celebrate)... we celebrated with Baby Ruths, "It's not Delivery, it's Digiorno", Push Pops, and a few baby things we still needed masquerading as gifts.

Back story: Reid was due August 29... we were banking on our first child being a "punctual" baby :) and planned on using some of the three weeks we thought we had to move in to our new house (yay!) and get everything ready... NOT :) the first night we tried to stay at our house, Reid realized what we were trying to pull on him and said "Yeah right... that's my house too! You can't stay there without me!" Therefore, my water broke. 1.30 am. Woke up Trevor, who handled it quite well except for a quick bout of nausea :). Off to the hospital. And there you have it!

Maybe sometime soon I'll stop being That Mom and post about something else... like our summer trip to Hawaii or the cool trek we went on as Ma and Pa... we'll see :)

Reid's First Week

My mom and Dayne were able to come out this week, which was awesome because Dayne leaves on his mission to Honduras in a week and a half and was able to sneak in a meeting before he leaves. He is such a cute uncle!

My Gorgeous Graduate

It's time for my far too seldom post lauding my sweet wife-

Shelby graduated last month! And not only did she graduate, but she graduated summa cum laude- meaning she received the highest honors the university offers. To accomplish this, she practically got straight A's in every one of her classes. She is one sharp girl and I could not be more proud. Or lucky. I still remember our dinner conversation while still dating when she told me how important it was for her to achieve her goal of graduating college, and that she was going to finish. We both knew it becomes more difficult to finish your education once you get married, especially for girls unfortunately. But here she is, despite her husband bouncing her around from Utah to San Diego to LA, and she stuck with it. Congratulations Shel. You earned this.

And the timing couldn't be better- diploma in the spring and baby in the summer. Not only am I so lucky to be a part of her life, but I must say our future kids are extremely lucky as well. The official degree she received was in Family Consumer Sciences Education. While the university might emphasize the preparation for being a teacher, others have appropriately dubbed it as a degree in being a Super Mom (my favorite is Domestic Engineer haha). She took all sorts of classes- personal finance, consumerism, child development, parenting, nutrition, clothing and interior design.... the list goes on. And as we prepare for our son's arrival, it has been so assuring for me to see just how prepared she is to help us raise a family. I love how she can just matter-of-factly give me the solution to a concern or even better to give me the five different approaches she learned in school and which she has already decided is the best. :)

She is already the perfect wife and she will be one amazing mommy. Our family is unbelievably blessed to have her.

Babymoon

I only tend to blog when I feel like I am way behind on things I probably should blog about. And I am way behind on things I probably should blog about. So we'll start with 2 months ago-

Right before we found out we were having a boy, we went on a "babymoon" down to one of our favorite places- San Diego.

Trev left most of our itinerary up to me which meant that the focus of the trip ended up being us spending 2 days at a resort and spa. :) Trev picked this one called La Costa and apparently has one of the best spas in Cali and I wouldn't disagree. My hubs spoiled me with a prenatal massage one day and a pedicure foot treatment the next. Those 2 days were absolutely perfect. I would have felt fulfilled just doing that. Since we spent most of our relaxing days at the resort doing just that- relaxing- the only picture we have is one Trevor snuck of me in the courtyard "recovering" after one of my massages. :)

And because I got to choose the itinerary, we also got to go to a place I always wanted to visit when we lived in SD that we never got to- the Carlsbad Flower Fields!

We also went by some of our favorite places in San Diego- our favorite beach, Trev's favorite Brazilian restaurant, our favorite drive in theater, and the Seaport village.

Trevor is the best husband ever!! I couldn't ask for a more thoughtful, sweeter, smolderingly attractive, or loving husband. I've absolutely loved the 3 1/2 years we've had to simply enjoy each other and focus on us and our newlywededness, but we're super excited to start our next adventure :)

Wow. Let’s face it. I’m not much of a blogger. It didn't really make the New Year's resolution list... Oh well. Whatyagonnado?

So, we’ve had some eventful days and some fun days in the past few months. For a quick recap…

Wedding Day

Courtney and Blake got married… yay! It was lovely.

Missionary Leaving Day

Tanner left for Australia (and survived a flood, just like Noah!)… go Tanner!

Thanksgiving Day was spent in Valencia. It was delicious. (I was too busy eating to take any pictures)

Christmas Day we were in Utah with my family and cute nephew. It was delightful.

Valentine’s Day consisted of me loving my hub. Great date, cute hubby, lots of fun and picture free…

President’s Day found us enjoying a trip to California City with some quads…it was great… and a no camera zone, but if we had taken pictures, you would have seen plenty of Trev's new favorite activity- Reality Mario Kart racing :)

Lets admit. I also haven’t been much of a camera person lately. I think all of these pictures have been stolen from people willing to take pictures… thanks my picture taking comrades!

Happy "Birth" day!

On the “eastern front” in Virginia, however, all is not quiet- my beautiful sister Jessica delivered our beautiful niece, Quinn Shelby Church on Wednesday! I know, best name ever ;)

We are so happy that both are healthy and cannot wait to meet our new niece ASAP…

Road Trip: Check

A while back Trev and I took advantage of a long weekend and went and saw a bit of California. I must say I have a lot of fun on road trips with my hubby and we had quite the weekend.

Session in the Fresno Temple: Check

I guess in Utah it's easy to take temples for granted. It was really cool to be able to visit these different temples spread so far apart. Definitely started our trip out on a high note.

Visit to Folsom City Prison: Check

Full day in San Francisco: Check

Tour the Winchester Mansion: Check
I saw this on the travel channel and had always wanted to see it for myself. In short, the wife of the founder of the Winchester rifle was haunted by ghosts and believed that in order to get rid of them, she had to be continuously building on her house for the rest of her life. The result: A mad house with over 1,000 doors, halls that lead to nowhere & overall nonsense. So fun. Poor woman.

The "Mystery Spot": Check

Hard to describe, other than their pitch line of it being a "gravitational anomaly", but absolutely awesome in the literal sense of the word. Above I am standing "straight up" and Trev is standing on the edge of a table. There's a spot in Santa Cruz where the gravity pulls you more sideways than down. Although sometimes your brain just can't compute what's going on and you get a bit disoriented, I highly recommend going. You have to visit if you're ever anywhere near there.

Grew/shrunk 5 inches in the Mystery Spot just by switching places: Check (weird huh?)

Took every opportunity to enjoy the amazing California coastline on the PCH: Check.

Brothers From Another Mother

Over the past little while we had the chance to hang out with our little brothers and wanted to share how cool they both are.

DAYNE

Dayne came and spent part of his last week of summer with us. He is one of the nicest kids you'll ever meet. So we had to show him how honored we were and give him the whole California experience.

And what would a summer be without some fun in the sun? We went to both Six Flags Hurricane Harbor and Magic Mountain. X2 is by far one of the craziest roller coasters you'll ever ride.

Trev was a little busy with school and work for two of the days but one of the days we got him for he showed us how to "beach it up" and skimboarded with Dayne...

..as well as teaching him how to catch seagulls!?? Yes that is Dayne underneath those towels ready to pounce on the unsuspecting seagulls.

TANNER

This boy is great. He is just so fun to be around and we loved it when he was down here for the summer. He also just came down for his birthday this week and we went to a professional murder mystery dinner with real actors sitting amongst us as the murders which was way fun. But we especially loved it when he got his mission call this summer! (See video at bottom)

I just have to say how cute it is to watch how proud Trevor is of his little brother. He loves him so much and is so happy when he gets to hang out with his brother.

The moment we were all waiting for...

(Trevor wants me to warn you that "the high-pitched noise you are about to hear in this video is not an audio glitch. It is in fact my very own mother.")

That's right! Brisbane, Australia!!! He leaves Dec. 15th and his call is especially inspired since that's where his Nana is from (who also has non-member family there). How cool. Congrats Tanner!

"Rich Port"

This month we were lucky enough to spend 10 whole days in Puerto Rico!

Fun at the pool and beach (which were right next to each other)...

See everybody laughing at Blake in this picture? Take a gander why... ;)If you guessed it was because Tanner, Trevor, and Blake figured out that the filter on the floor could do this to them, and then tried to get the best marks, you would be right (and psychic?). funny (crazy) boys..
We are always quite lucky in that the yearly family vacation usually ends up happening in the beginning of August, which also happens to be our anniversary. Nothing like celebrating the anniversary with my hubs in tropical places (and then again when we get home) ;) And can you guess what this is? If you guessed FRY SAUCE!!! you are right again. Puerto Rico apparently loves fry sauce because they served it every time I got fries or plaintains. Nothing like a little taste of UT in PR. :)

So PR has a lot of pretty beaches, which I expected. But I was surprised at the amount of rainforests actually. We stayed about 2 miles away from the only National RAINforest in the U.S. system. So we saw lots of rainforest scenery, and waterfalls...

One of the really cool things we did was ride ATV's in and out of one of the rainforests...
And at the end of the trail, a pretty river. And what would a pretty river be if they could not find a rock to jump off of into that river? :)
Or what would the pretty river be if there were not clay rocks which when you rubbed them on other rocks, made a paint, which of course you had to rub on your face as if preparing for war?

Natural water slides!!

Since the water was fresh and came from one of the rainstorms, it wasn't the 82 degrees that the ocean was (ya i know), but it was still really fun. Trevor and Tanner thought it extra fun to just throw their bodies into the rapids as the water rushed by and see where their bodies popped out 10 seconds later.. oh boys. You guessed it, #5- Another funfilled activity in the rainforest involving running water :)
We hiked for I'd say a mile up to this secluded lagoon...

... and what would a secluded lagoon be without a rock to jump off of with the assistance of a rope swing? :)
Ok the activity we did on the last night is undescribable. Obviously I'll try but the best I can say is that it was magical. By far one of the coolest things I've ever seen with my own eyes. Speaking of which, it is so cool that normal cameras actually can't capture it because it is in the dark and the light can only be seen with the naked eye (no really). Luckily, I found these online that show you much better than I can describe it... It's called Bioluminescence.

We kayaked through this tiny river that ran into the ocean and it led us to another secluded lagoon. Only this one was full of small small plankton that belong in Avatar. Meaning that when you excite them (aka paddle, splash, or move your hand in the water) they let off a bright blue light that glows in the dark. Simply magical.
What an amazing trip and a perfect end to the summer.

Fiesta Fun

Summer lovin' continued as we got to fiesta with the family. We headed up to St. George and made a fun pit stop in Vegas staying at the Luxor which was very cool. Ever been on an elevator that goes diagonally upwards? Ya if you haven't you fall over sideways like me. When we finally made it up to the place of 113 degrees (otherwise known as St. George) we had a blast!

Our trips to St. George are almost always headlined by a trip to the Tuacahn, this cool outdoor theater. This year we saw "Tarzan" and it was so fun. Besides that, lots of shopping :) while the boys played basketball and golf, lots of pool and board games, and lots of good times with our family.

After St. George we headed up to the cooler part of Utah for a few days and got to have even more fun there. We went to Park city and hung out with Dane's family, played more golf (they even invited us girls this time), and got to be there for the highlight of Utah summers- Spanish Fork Fiesta Days :)

The crowning event of the week- the Spanish Fork rodeo! :) We had such a great time with our family all week but this is always the grande finale. So great. My parents were so generous and provided so many entertaining things for us all to do while we were together. Howie about wore Trevor out, and that's saying something since Trev's always up for activities ;) We love you guys. Thank you!!!

Hands down two of our favorite people to hang out with, along with our favorite nephew (who doesn't now realize how much he will one day love us) ;) Trev decided to use his hair stuff on Beck and let me tell you, Beck just gained quite the personal hair stylist. When we finally do get to be around them, we always feel so lucky to know that these guys are part of our future family and love 'em to death (and we steal all of their pics for our blog hehe, thanks Jess).

And at my husband's request, since he just drove across the whole country alone and Trev thinks he is a complete stud, Dane's own Chuck Norris quote-

"Dane Church's tears could cure cancer. Too bad he has never wept."

A Big Ole' Bear

For the fourth of july, we went with the family to Big Bear... it was so much fun! Along with shopping on the cutest little main street ever, watching the boys have fierce ping pong tournaments, eating giant pancakes (no really, like 2 feet wide. unbelievable) and enjoying the mountain air (hehe) we...

....hiked to a rock called Castle Rock - needless to say it was a little more "adventurous" than I was anticipating and some of the "climbing" aspects were a little more of actual climbing than I've ever done. Needless to say it scared the heck out of me! Bless Trevor and Tanner's hearts for literally lifting me/carrying me up to the top...
And of course the big "pay off" is the beautiful view of the lake afterwards... even if I was afraid to move while we enjoyed it...

And there is always leisure mixed with adventure on our trips as we broke out Trevor's Lakers version of Monopoly he got for his birthday...

And yes that is Courtney's boyfriend Blake, a natural Jazz fan, playing Lakers monopoly. Trevor relished the moments when Blake would say something along the lines of "Ya I'd like to buy Kobe Bryant" or "yes! I get Magic Johnson!" :)
The highlight of the trip had to be the fireworks. Isn't that supposed to be the highlight of everyone's 4th of July? This one was particularly amazing because we went out on the boat in the middle of the lake and watched the fireworks from there. Watching the fireworks reflect off of the water as they go off made watching them all the better. It was quite the show.

We had so much fun and are so thankful to have such a fun family... on both sides! Now we're getting ready to head on our way to St. George to meet up with my family tomorrow. We can't wait.

Trevor's Best Week Ever!

So at the beginning of the month it was my hubby's birthday. We pulled out all the stops and he was one happy camper. And based on the fact that he told me it was one of the best weeks of his life, I thought I'd blog about all the things that happened during his Bday week...

We went to Vegas where

1. We went to the UFC fan expo. Trevor could list off literally 50 UFC fighters and celebrities that we saw and have pictures of but by far the one he was most excited about was...

..the Huntington Beach Bad Boy! Tito Ortiz! (pardon my written Bruce Buffer impression) :)

Trev says this is his new favorite picture ever- his wife about to beat the crap out of Tito Ortiz ;)

Tito's training buddies LOVED Trevor - they were just chatting it up and even gave him the nickname of "Brazil guy" after they realized how good his portuguese was.

2. We went to UFC 114.

3. My family came down to Vegas and we celebrated with them too.

We ate at the Rainforest Cafe at the MGM, which we think is just so fun, and Trev got a bday lava cake.

4. We also went with the family to Cirque du Soleil- Mystere. We LOVE going to any cirque du soleil. My family hadn't been to one before and we hadn't been to Mystere so we were all very excited to go. As always, it didn't disappoint. There's just something magical with those shows. They're so fun!

5. On Trevor's actual birthday his family took us to an amazing Brazilian restaurant (my boy's faaavorite). Sorry, no pictures of us stuffing ourselves with a brazlian rodizio.

5. And as a gift from Tanner guess who got to go to game 1 Lakers - Celtics...

For their well-being, it is a good thing they won that game! (and the championship for that matter)

So like I said, Trevor told me it was one of the best weeks of his life. How am I going to compete with that ever again?! :)

PS. Just so you know, we do more than just UFC and Laker activities, but that is what Trevor gets really excited about, so those are the ones I post about. But if you are just looking at our blog, you might not know we care about anything beyond UFC and the Lakers... well we do.

I feel a little unoriginal posting this, but Trevor deserves a little credit! My cool, smart, adorable, hardworking husband made the Dean's List at his law school! While working full time! He got the best grade in one of his classes and A's in the other ones, pretty sure he rocks my socks! Good job Mr. Smarty Pants!

My parents came to visit us... yay! They are the best and we had a great time playing with them... they were even cool enough to spend their anniversary with us. While they were here we spent a day in Santa Barbara, went to the Getty Center, went to Venice Beach and 3rd Street Promenade, took a tour of some TV Studios, and ate and shopped! The weather cooperated quite nicely giving them some 80 degree weather which made our tandem bike ride along the beach amazing.

We also went to the Lakers Fan Jam... While we were there, we saw Pau, Lamar, Shannon, Josh Powell, and Mr. Cheek Bones himself Ron Artest. Trevor even "came into physical contact" with Lamar and Shannon Brown after they set a Guinness World Record in front of us for making the most free throws in 60 seconds. He was sort of like a little boy on Christmas morning, absolutely adorable!

I Should've Been a Cowboy...

So I'm sort of going through a phase. I want to be a cowgirl.

Evidence just keeps adding up: in all of the reality tv shows we watch, I am rooting for the cowboys (Survivor JT and Amazing Race adorable cowboys), I have had a recent urge to listen to country music, and we went out to eat at a cowboy restaurant - I was in my element. On top of that, I wore my most cowgirl outfit to church last week.

And check this out... That's right. A mason jar full of root beer. Pretty sure I'm never drinking out of a real glass/cup again.

I just can't believe I didn't take advantage of all of the cowgirl opportunities when I lived in Utah! hehe :) Now I just need a rodeo...

The "S" in Shelby...

... is for SMART. :) I don't normally take part in the blogging process, but felt inclined to take a sec to brag about my lovely wife.... because she just got straight A's in her first semester in the family consumer science major. Good job Shel. I'm very lucky to have such a sharp and ambitious person for a wife and future example and teacher of our little guys. You're so S-M-R-T. ;)

7 New's

Well obviously I'm not the best at posting new blogs but to my defense we have been very busy since the summer. So to try and fill you in, I'll try and give you 7 bits of "new"s.

1. NEW: city. We moved!

3. NEW: schools.

Now I get to go here!

I'm studying full-time and am am majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences, emphasizing in education. It's known as the "People Profession" because I get to learn such a wide spread of practical subjects for day to day life like: family studies, family resource management, consumer affairs, apparel design and construction, interior design, nutrition, dietetics, food science, child development, marriage relationships, and more. As you can see I could go on and on but needless to say, it took me a while to find one but now I LOVE MY MAJOR and am so happy to be back in school.

Trev was able to transfer law schools because of his good grades the first year and now goes part time here: He loves the smaller atmosphere and loves even more that it allows him to work while still in school. He plans on the law degree taking around the same time as before since he'll be going year round and then will start on his MBA (so hopefully 3 1/2 more years at most?). We are so blessed to be able to have us both pursue further degrees while minimizing grad school debt.

4. NEW: job for my sugar daddy Trevor :)

Trevor is now working with his dad while he goes to school at night afterwards. He loves it and gets to work closely with his dad who is teaching him tons about the business world. He couldn't find a better teacher. I've also never seen Trev so tired. The poor guy has 3 15 hour days during the week between work and school. I appreciate the sacrifices he makes for us while still pursuing his goals.

5. NEW: truck.

Because he works at MasonryClub, that means Trevor got a new F150 to drive! It's a fun truck and we have already taken advantage of it and taken it to the drive-in multiple times.

7. No longer a "new"born-

Our beautiful little nephew Beck just turned 1 and is no longer a newborn. But defying all odds, he just keeps getting cuter!

We are so happy with our "new" life here. We feel that Heavenly Father has blessed us immensely and guided us throughout our marriage and are so happy for all of the opportunities He has given us.

Oh We're Going (or we went) to a Hukilau

Earlier this month we went with the family on an AMAZING trip to Kauai. It was absolutely beautiful, fun, and relaxing.

While we were there we spent lots of time in the spa... (note the waterfall flowing into it)

We stayed in a beautiful penthouse...

We swam in the cool pool... (view from our lanai)

We read...

We saw some beautiful waterfalls...

We jumped off trees and waterfalls - some of us did anyway... :)

We boogie boarded...

We ate shaved ice...

And then we ate some more shaved ice (about everyday)... my favorite!

We walked through some cool jungle grass...

We celebrated our anniversary... two years!!

We had a great time!

We have been having a great summer so far. This month we got to go up to Utah and had a blast. While I would love to put our visit in my own words, my sister Jessica did such an amazing job on her blog about it that I would much rather have you read her detailed recap. Speaking of Dane and Jessica, you couldn't ask for two better people to have in your family. We love them to death and have so much fun anytime we are around them. It also doesn't hurt that their son Beck wins cutest nephew ever award (see above). While we're happy to know we are definitely the frontrunners to be his favorite aunt and uncle ;) we're bummed that they're off to school themselves on the other side of the country. We can't wait to visit them and to one day, when we're both done with school, move onto the same street and continue the fun. Good luck you two, we love you.

Trevor and I celebrated our anniversary a little early this year since we will be on vacation during our actual anniversary (granted, already a great way to spend it, but why not celebrate a little extra?) Trevor completely tricked me. I had no idea we were doing any sort of celebrating, except a company party; he got me all the way to our destination without me even having the slightest idea what we were doing - I just thought that we were completely lost and in the middle of a random big crowd being directed by cops... I was completely oblivious! Final destination: COLDPLAY concert! YAY!!! I pretty much am in love with Coldplay and Trevor took the opportunity to surprise me with what I told him would be one of my top five concerts ever to go to (he's already taken me to two of them, not bad :) )

Trevor was amazing - he did his research for the concert and found out that during the concert Coldplay would perform in the audience - he found out the area-ish they would do part of the concert and got tickets right by where he thought they would be - so the entire band came and performed a few songs right by us... it was surreal! We were literally four rows away... (look who's right behind me!!)

Trevor ended up with the duty of being photographer for the night too... didn't he do a great job?

The concert was absolutely amazing - Trevor and I agreed one of the best either of us have ever been to... don't I have a cool husband? I'm pretty lucky if I do say so myself.

Summer Fun in SD

It's been a fun and busy summer for us so far. Phil, Janelle, and family came down last month for Trevor's birthday and we went to Dave & Buster's to celebrate...

... it's way fun and if you've never been there, it's pretty much the adult version of Chuck E' Cheese. This is Courtney regretting her choice of briefcase in Deal or No Deal. :)

And this is what happens to Dallas Dahl when he takes a nap after the party.

Trevor maintains that his summer could not have started any better when this happened....

It's adorable seeing him stand all alone in front of the TV and cheer like nobody's business. Not gonna lie, it's nice to only have to be an overly supportive basketball loving wife during the 2 months the playoffs are going on.

We were also lucky enough to have them down for July 4th. We went to the San Diego fair which is huge. Among many other things, they are proud to offer you chocolate covered bacon, fried oreos, snickers, smores, or a Krispy Kreme chicken sandwich (?). Tanner opted for the 18 inch corn dog.

Besides the laughably unhealthy fried fair food, San Diego does have other things to offer visitors- there were 23 different firework shows going on in San Diego on July 4th! They found a spot in Mission Bay where you could see 6 of them. Wow. We also have fun animals-
So they went and saw San Diego's own Shamu....

... and the Scary San Diego Squirrels, who I think disgustingly (Trevor thinks remarkably :) will come right up to you and eat out of your hand. Not my hand squirl-eo.

It hasn't been all fun and no work, however. I'm still working as a teller (I love having a name tag!) and Trev going to school and working with his internship. We are looking at some exciting options for next school year as Trev starts the MBA portion of his JDMBA. Stay tuned...

All-in-One

A lot has been happening lately and I'm not great at updating so here's an all-in-one...

Greatest news for us lately is that Trevor finished his last final today! Yay for being done and for me finally getting my husband back; sanddune fun loving playful Trevor is ready to come out of hiding...

... and replace this poor boy who sits and studies all day for weeks (all the while growing the soon to be gone finals beard part 2) Overall, glad first year's over, but wasn't nearly as bad as anticipated. You're great Trev.

Dane, Jessica, and Beck came and stayed with us a few weeks back... While they were here we went to the beach, went to Disneyland, and had a blast just watching Beck's every move. Being around these 3 makes us want to be around them as much as we can and realize how lucky we are to have them as part of our family. We love you guys!

We also loved seeing Beck again - it was only the second chance we've had to see him since he was born, so it was fun to get to spend time with him too. Because he was teething, he was a bit of a crank so it helped scare us off of kids for a few years longer ;) But Beck sure is the cutest beach-bum-in-training i've ever seen and Uncle Trev can't wait to teach him how to surf.

The Family Stone

My parents and brothers finally came down to San Diego at the beginning of March - yay!! We miss seeing them regularly so it was great to have the opportunity to see them and to let them see our life down here.

While they were here we went to Disneyland, which is always our favorite!

It was my parent's anniversary the day we went to Disneyland, so DL gave them special "Happy Anniversary" pins - they were so cute!

We also went to Sea World... Trev and I actually hadn't been there since we'd moved here and I hadn't been since I was old enough to remember, so it was fun to see what all the hype is about - gotta say I loved the dolphins!

While at Sea World we went on a raft ride - not going to lie I was being a little bit of a poor sport because it got a little chilly and I really didn't want to get wet! As we were getting on the ride I asked the worker if there was a best spot to sit or anything I could do to avoid getting wet - he just laughed. As we were getting off he just said "told you so". We definitely got wet (hence the picture of us all showing off our wet spots). Yay for me, I actually was the least wet of anyone, look at those poor, wet boys (and my mom)!

Not only did we all get wet on the raft ride, during the dolphin show, Bubbles, the whale, parked himself right in front of us and did some crazy splashing... my mom was great and saved me by shielding us with her coat, but the boys, again, were soaked... warning - you might think you are safe in the twelfth row, but you're not!

The last day we went to the temple - I'm probably a little biased but I sure do love the San Diego temple - it is so pretty! Thanks for coming fam! We loved having you here and are waiting to hear when you are coming next!

Time to Brag

I'm not going to lie - I have an amazing, smart, charming, and funny husband! This week, Trevor competed in a mock trial competition. Out of 60 people who entered, he made it to the finals! He ended up being given the title of "Distinguished Advocate", which basically means he did really really great. It also means he's invited to attend a course this summer specifically offered to DA's and to be a part of their traveling moot court competition team. He went in to the competition with minimal practice and still did amazing... Trev, you're so cool!

On a side note: It was probably only the second time he has been 100% clean shaven since we've been in SD. He likes his stubble. I barely recognized him without it.

Vegas

We went to Vegas for Courtney's birthday which conveniently landed on the same weekend as the St Pierre-Penn UFC fight.

First thing Trevor and I did when we got there was to go to a Q&A with Rashad Evans and the weigh-in for the fights... not going to lie, it was a little awkward when all the men would adjust themselves while stripping down to their boxer briefs. Doesn't mean GSP's not incredibly attractive when stripped down to his undies though...

Or Trevor and Courtney for that matter...

Being at the fights is always quite an experience. We all had fun rooting for our various favorite fighters. To the boys' dismay and to the delight of the girls and the crazy drunk Canadians next to us, GSP won.

Memorable sightings: Mike Swick, Jon Fitch (so cute hugging his mom and dad, i just wanted to eat him), TITO, Rashad Evans (light-heavyweight champ) who was super nice.

Courtney's birthday celebration included Rainforest Cafe and Cirque Du Soleil. Cirque Du Soleil (which until last year i thought was circus olay haha) was absolutely amazing and so much fun... lots of crazy clowns, diving, acrobatics, and red butlers who do crazy dances while wearing garters. It was so great!

We also had a party for Courtney - the best part was possibly the party hats : )

The last day, we went to the Eiffel tower restaurant.

For dessert, Tanner decided to get "An Assortment of French Cheeses" - he couldn't even keep a straight face as he ordered it. They smelled awful! So while I enjoyed my creme brule, Tanner sniffed his cheese. Why you'd want to put anything that smells like that in your mouth is a mystery to both of us.

We were able to see the fountain show at the Bellagio from our table, which was really cool. We also went to the top of the eiffel tower and watched the water show from there too- it was great and a really fun/different perspective. By the end, we were all just planning what we would do on our fall to death from the top of the Eiffel tower. Tanner, for one, thought it necessary to take off his shoes on his plunge. Trevor was going to aim for one of the beach chairs next to a lady sunbathing at the resort below.

It was an amazing, great, fun weekend! Courtney, we love you!! Happy Birthday! You are the best... and my favorite sister-in-law... :)
