"Rich Port"

This month we were lucky enough to spend 10 whole days in Puerto Rico!

Fun at the pool and beach (which were right next to each other)...

We are always quite lucky in that the yearly family vacation usually ends up happening in the beginning of August, which also happens to be our anniversary. Nothing like celebrating the anniversary with my hubs in tropical places (and then again when we get home) ;) And can you guess what this is? If you guessed FRY SAUCE!!! you are right again. Puerto Rico apparently loves fry sauce because they served it every time I got fries or plaintains. Nothing like a little taste of UT in PR. :)

So PR has a lot of pretty beaches, which I expected. But I was surprised at the amount of rainforests actually. We stayed about 2 miles away from the only National RAINforest in the U.S. system. So we saw lots of rainforest scenery, and waterfalls...

One of the really cool things we did was ride ATV's in and out of one of the rainforests...
And at the end of the trail, a pretty river. And what would a pretty river be if they could not find a rock to jump off of into that river? :)
Or what would the pretty river be if there were not clay rocks which when you rubbed them on other rocks, made a paint, which of course you had to rub on your face as if preparing for war?

Natural water slides!!

Since the water was fresh and came from one of the rainstorms, it wasn't the 82 degrees that the ocean was (ya i know), but it was still really fun. Trevor and Tanner thought it extra fun to just throw their bodies into the rapids as the water rushed by and see where their bodies popped out 10 seconds later.. oh boys. You guessed it, #5- Another funfilled activity in the rainforest involving running water :)
We hiked for I'd say a mile up to this secluded lagoon...

... and what would a secluded lagoon be without a rock to jump off of with the assistance of a rope swing? :)
Ok the activity we did on the last night is undescribable. Obviously I'll try but the best I can say is that it was magical. By far one of the coolest things I've ever seen with my own eyes. Speaking of which, it is so cool that normal cameras actually can't capture it because it is in the dark and the light can only be seen with the naked eye (no really). Luckily, I found these online that show you much better than I can describe it... It's called Bioluminescence.

We kayaked through this tiny river that ran into the ocean and it led us to another secluded lagoon. Only this one was full of small small plankton that belong in Avatar. Meaning that when you excite them (aka paddle, splash, or move your hand in the water) they let off a bright blue light that glows in the dark. Simply magical.
What an amazing trip and a perfect end to the summer.
